My So-Called Life is quite possibly the greatest tween/teen drama of our generation. When the big TV honchos (who clearly know nothing) prematurely canceled this show, it felt like there couldn’t possibly be a pain any greater in life. So, in its honor, let’s imagine four of the iconic characters as green paint colors.
Jordan Catalano as a Green Paint Color: Miramichi by Benjamin Moore
Is there anyone in the world who epitomizes the brooding, intriguing stereotype better than Jordan Catalano? The answer is no. Miramichi is a deep, dark green that’s a little bit mysterious and a whole lot moody-just like Jordan. It sometimes reads teal, and other times Emerald, perfectly capturing the hidden layers that make up his cool, “whatever man” facade. Drench an entire room in this dramatic color to get the full Jordan Catalano effect. But if you can’t handle a full-on bad boy, give yourself a small dose by painting just a door or fireplace trim
Rayanne Graff as a Green Paint Color: Avocado by Benjamin Moore
Rayanne Graff, man, was she cool, fun, and so much trouble. She’s exactly the kind of wild and unpredictable best friend that you would not want for your daughter today. If Rayanne was a green paint color, she’d be vibrant and bold Avocado. It totally fits her free spirit and her love for living life on the edge. Avocado is eye-catching and impossible to ignore, just like Rayanne, who always managed to stand out and make Angela’s “lame” life more exciting.
Angela Chase: Green Smoke by Farrow & Ball
Oh Angela Chase, the always-in-her-head and emotionally complex main character. She would absolutely be Green Smoke. It’s soft and muted, giving off a calm and grounding feel, just like her deep thoughts. I mean, figuring out your place in the high school world is some serious sh!t, ya know? Green Smoke looks a little different depending on the light-sometimes more greyish, sometimes more greenish. Kinda like Angela’s mood swings. Green Smoke perfectly captures the laid-back coolness factor that made her and Jordan a perfect fit. It doesn’t scream for attention, is happy to blend into the background but it’s still full of subtlety and depth.
Brian Krakow: Green Cast by Benjamin Moore
Alright, let’s chat about Brian Krakow, the super nerdy and awkward neighbor. Ooof, he was painful to watch cause it kinda broke your heart how innocent and genuine he was. If he was a paint color, he would be Green Cast. Green Cast is refreshing and sweet, just like Brian’s hopeful (and let’s be serious-somewhat naive) approach to life and definitely not reciprocated crush on Angela.
Ok, which of these green paint colors (or any color) do you think Rickie Vasquez would be? Or poor Sharon Cherski, who was left in the dust once Rayanne came along?
